George IV 1825 plain edge proof Half-Sovereign, extremely rare

George IV (1820-30), gold proof Half-Sovereign, 1825, plain edge with eight heart semée in Hanoverian arms, bare head left, date below neck, legend and toothed border surrounding., GEORGIUS IV DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF:, eight heart semée in Hanoverian escutcheon, edge plain (WR 248 R5; Marsh 406A R4; S.3801). Brilliant, practically as struck but with a hairline scratch under the bust in the field, deeper shorter scratches above the crown on the reverse, therefore has been slabbed by NGC as Proof Details "Scratches" nevertheless an extremely rare plain edge proof.

3.98 grams of 22 carat gold. Made in the UK.

The Latin legends translate to on obverse "George the Fourth by the Grace of God" continuing on the reverse as "King of the Britains, Defender of the Faith."
