George IV (1820-30), gold Half-Sovereign, 1823, first laureate head left, B.P. for Benedetto Pistrucci below neck, legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F:D: rev. second crowned quartered shield of arms, with a crowned escutcheon of the Arms of Hanover, emblems below, ANNO to left, 1823 to right, weight 3.99g (Marsh 404 R2; S.3802). Lightly toned, some tiny marks and nicks, extremely fine and rare.
Calendar year mintage of 224,280.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George the Fourth, by the Grace of God, King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith," and on reverse as "in the year 1823."
