George IV (1820-30), gold Sovereign, 1821, first laureate head left, B.P. for Benedetto Pistrucci below neck, legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F:D: rev. die axis slightly off-centre, St George and dragon right, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue for designer and engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, raised WWP on ground line below lance for Master of the Mint William Wellesley Pole, weight 8.01g (Bentley 12; Marsh 5; S.3800). Toned with underlying brilliance, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as MS63.

NGC certification 5880623-0012.

We note a total of 256 pieces dated 1821 have been graded and slabbed by both services of which only 27 are graded higher than this coin rendering it in the top eighth of the population.

Calendar year mintage 5,356,787.

The Latin legends translate to on obverse "George the Fourth by the Grace of God, King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
