George III (1760-1820),oval countermark upon Spanish Eight Reales of King Charles IIII (1788-1808), 1793 DA, Santiago mint, Chile, oval hallmark of George III at centre of obverse, laureate draped bust of Spanish king right, date below, legend surrounds CAROLUS.IIII. DEI. GRATIA,rev.crowned quartered shield of arms, pillar with ribbon motto PLUS VLTRA, legend surrounding, .HISPAN. ET IND. REX. S. 8R. D.A., (Bull 1853 R3; ESC 134; S.3765A).Graded by NGC as XF45 with AU strong designated for the countermark, very rare with the Santiago mint host coin.

NGC Certification 3218621-006.

The initials D and A at the end of the reverse legend represent the names of the Mint Assayers who were Domingo Eizaguirre and Augustin de Infante y Prado.
