George III (1760-1820), gold Sovereign, 1820, second laureate head right, date below with open 2, Latin legend commences lower left GEORGIUS III D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F:D:, rev. St. George and dragon right, incuse BP below broken lance at lower left for designer and engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, garter surrounding, buckle with incuse WWP for Master of the Mint William Wellesley Pole, Old French motto reads HONI. SOIT. QUI. MAL. Y. PENSE., edge milled (Bentley 7; Hill 4; MCE.466; EGC 906; S.3785C). Toned, a well struck example, mirrored fields some light hairlines and unobtrusive contact marks, graded and encapsulated by PCGS as MS62.
