George III 1819 Halfcrown, small head, HO and SO over small HO and SO

George III (1760-1820), silver Halfcrown, 1819, variety with H S and O in garter motto struck over smaller letters, small laureate head right, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, Order of the Garter motto in French surrounding, .HONI . SOIT. QUI. MAL . Y. PENSE., the HO and SO in legend struck over smaller versions of themselves, the last S an uncorrected small S, legend and toothed border surrounding BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF:, weight 14.21g (Bull -; cf.Davies 62; cf.ESC 623; S.3789). Toned, some light surface marks, almost extremely fine, unusual and rare.

The Latin legend translate as on the obverse "George the Third, by the grace of God," and on the reverse as "King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith" and the French on the motto, "Evil to him who evil thinks."
