George III (1760-1820), gold Half Sovereign, 1818, laureate head right, date below, Latin legend surrounding, GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms with a crowned escutcheon of the Arms of Hanover centre, Latin legend continues, REX FID: DEF: BRITANNIARUM, edge milled, weight 3.97g (Hill 401 R; Bull EGC 930; S.3786). A pleasing example with some wear to highpoints, strong residual mint lustre, graded by NGC as MS61.

Calendar year mintage 1,030,286.

The Latin legend translates as on obverse as "George the Third by the Grace of God," continuing on the reverse as "King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
