George III (1760-1820), gold proof Half-Sovereign, 1817, engraved by Benedetto Pistrucci, laureate head right, date below, legend GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA raised rim both sides, rev. inverted die axis, crowned shield of arms, dot below, REX FID: DEF: BRITANNIARUM, edge milled (WR 204; Hill 400A R3; Bull EGC 929 R3; S.3786). Some light hairlines, brilliant with pleasant light tone, practically as struck, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as PF63 Ultra Cameo, very rare. An exceptional example.

NGC Certification 3299120-001.
The only example graded this fine at both services, as this coin was once in a PCGS holder.

The Latin obverse legend translates as "George III, by the Grace of God" continuing on the reverse as "King of all the Britain's, Defender of the Faith."
