George III (1760-1820), gold Half-Guinea, 1813, seventh laureate head right, legend GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA, rev. quartered shield of arms with crowned escutcheon of the arms of Hanover, all within crowned garter, French legend on garter HONI. SOIT. QUI. MAL. Y. PENSE., date below, legend commences upper right, BRITANNIARUM REX FIDEI DEFENSOR, weight 4.21g (Schneider -; EGC 859; MCE 447; S.3737). Toned with a few light surface marks, retaining mint brilliance, graded by NGC as MS63, rare final date.
NGC Certification 2124454-019.
The Latin legends translate to on obverse "George the Third by the Grace of God" continuing on the reverse in abbreviated Latin which if in shown in full reads "King of all the Britons, Defender of the Faith," the French language garter motto translates as "Evil to him, who evil thinks."
