George III 1800 Third-Guinea, last year for first type

George III (1760-1820), gold Third Guinea, 1800, first type, first laureate head right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA., rev. large crown, date in legend surrounding commencing at lower left, . MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., weight 2.79g (Schneider -; Bull EGC 870; MCE 452; S.3738). Toned, with hairline scratches marks and flecks both sides, otherwise almost extremely fine, a rarer type.

The Latin legends translate as on obverse "George III by the grace of God" and on the reverse "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."

The gold output for calendar year 1800 was a mere £189,937 which was devoted to Half and Third Guinea production only.
