George III (1760-1820),gold Third Guinea, 1800, first type, first laureate head right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA., rev. large crown, date in legend surrounding commencing at lower left,. MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., weight 2.79g (Schneider -; Bull EGC 870; MCE 452; S.3738).Toned, light hairline scratches, prooflike fields with a pleasing portrait some toning streaks, about extremely fine for type, the rarer first bust, the date not represented in Schneider.

The Latin legends translate as on obverse "George III by the grace of God" and on the reverse "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."

The gold output for calendar year 1800 was a mere £189,937 which was devoted to Half and Third Guinea production only.
