George III (1760-1820),gold Third Guinea, 1798, first type, first laureate head right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA. rev. large crown, date in legend surrounding commencing at lower left, . MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX. weight 2.79g (Schneider -; Bull EGC 868; MCE 450; S.3738).Pleasant red tone, some surface marks and nicks, good very fine.

The Latin legends translate as on obverse "George III by the grace of God" and on the reverse "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."

The gold output for calendar year 1798 was £2,967,505 which is the second highest of the spade guinea period.
