George III (1760-1820), gold Third Guinea, 1798, first type, first laureate head right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA. rev. large crown, date in legend surrounding commencing at lower left, . MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., weight 2.82g (Schneider -; Bull EGC 868; MCE 450; S.3738).Toned with surface marks, scuffs on cheek and light wear, very fine.

The Latin legends translate as on obverse "George III by the grace of God" and on the reverse "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."

The calendar year mintage of £2,967,505 of gold was the the seventh highest of this reign.
