George III 1790 Droz pattern Sixpence, plain edge, date in legend, ex Bole

George III (1760-1820), Pattern silver Sixpence, 1790, engraved by Jean-Pierre Droz, crowned GR cypher, laurel branches around, toothed border around rim both sides, rev. struck en medaille, Britannia seated left on globe with shield, holding spear and olive branch, date in legend around BRITANNIA 1790, plain exergue, edge plain, weight 2.62g (Selig -; Bull 2219; ESC 1645). Attractively toned, practically as struck, good extremely fine.

This particular variety was not present in the specialised collection of George III formed by Herman Selig sold at Spink in 1999.
