George III 1776 silver Twopence AU55, unbarred A in MAG

George III (1760-1820),silver Twopence, 1776, young laureate and draped bust right, legend surrounds, GEORGIVS. III. DEI. GRATIA.,rev.crowned mark of value, date either side of crown, legend reads .MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., with unbarred A in MAG, weight 0.99g (Bull.2278; ESC.2243; see Robinson p.160:263; S.3756).Toned with underlying brilliance, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as AU55.

NGC Certification 8220388-008.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George III by the Grace of God," and on reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."

The 1776 Fourpence, Twopence and Penny are the only small silver coins of this date there being no maundy set available.
