George III (1760-1820),silver Penny, 1776, second 7 in date re-entered variety, young laureate and draped bust left, legend surrounds, GEORGIVS. III. DEI. GRATIA.,rev.crowned mark of value, date either side of crown, legend reads MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., weight 0.43g (Bull.2292; ESC.2357; Robinson p.160:262 [i]; S.3759). Attractively toned, vertical die clash evident on obverse, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as MS63.
NGC Certification 8220388-010.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George III by the Grace of God," and on reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland
The 1776 Fourpence, Twopence and Penny are the only small silver coins of this date there being no maundy set available.
