George III (1760-1820),silver Penny, 1776, young laureate and draped bust left, legend surrounds, GEORGIVS. III. DEI. GRATIA.,rev.crowned mark of value, date either side of crown, legend reads MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., weight 0.50g (Bull.2292; ESC.2357; Robinson p.160:262 [i]; S.3759). Dark fetching tone, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as MS62.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George III by the Grace of God," and on reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland
The 1776 Fourpence, Twopence and Penny are the only small silver coins of this date there being no maundy set available.
