George II (1727-60),silver Penny, 1759, young laureate and draped bust left, legend surrounds, GEORGIVS. II. DEI. GRATIA:,colon after legend,rev.crowned mark of value, date either side of crown, legend reads MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., weight 0.51g (Bull.1841; ESC.2351; Robinson p.159:232; S.3715a). Dark tone with underlying mint brilliance on reverse, good very fine.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George II by the Grace of God," and on reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland
The 1759 Twopence and Penny are the only small silver coins of this date there being no maundy set available.
