George II (1727-60),silver Twopence, 1756, young laureate and draped bust left, legend surrounds, GEORGIVS. II. DEI. GRATIA.,rev.crowned mark of value, date either side of crown, legend reads MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., weight 1.00g (Bull.1814; ESC.2235; Robinson p.159:229; S.3714a). Good very fine with a striking tone and underlying bloom.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George II by the Grace of God," and on reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."
The 1756 Twopence and Penny are the only small silver coins of this date there being no maundy set available.
