George II (1727-60),silver Penny, 1756, young laureate and draped bust left, legend surrounds, GEORGIVS. II. DEI. GRATIA:, colon after legend,rev.crowned mark of value, date either side of crown, legend reads MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., weight 0.48g (Bull.1838; ESC.2348; cf.Robinson p.159:228; S.3715a). Olive tone, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as AU55.

NGC Certification 8220388-001.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George II by the Grace of God," and on reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland

Robinson does not show a colon variety for this date but does for the dates either side.

The 1756 Twopence and Penny are the only small silver coins of this date there being no maundy set available.
