George II (1727-60), gold Guinea, 1756, old laureate head left, legend surrounding, GEORGIVS. II. DEI. GRATIA., rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, date either side of crown, abbreviated Latin legend, M.B.F.ET.H. REX. F.D.B.ET.L.D.S.R.I.A.T.ET.E edge grained, weight 8.42g (Schneider 593; Farey 980 R; Bull EGC 618; MCE.330; S.3680). Toned, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as MS62.

We note this coin is the finest graded example at NGC and the equal of the two finest at PCGS, therefore joint top of population.
The Latin legends translate as on obverse "George the Second by the Grace of God" and continues on to the reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, Duke of Brunswick and Luneberg, High Treasurer and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire".
We note the calendar year output for gold in 1756 was £492,983 after which there was a 12 month break with none produced during 1757.
