George II 1754 silver Penny
George II (1727-60),silver Penny, 1754, young laureate and draped bust left, legend surrounds, GEORGIVS. II. DEI. GRATIA.,rev.crowned mark of value, date either side of crown, legend reads MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., weight 0.50g (Bull.1836; ESC.2346; Robinson p.159:226; S.3715a). Bright tone, some slight softness in portrait, solder mark on edge, very fine.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George II by the Grace of God," and on reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland
The 1754 Penny is the only small silver coin of this date there being no maundy set available.
