George I 1727 silver Threepence, final year of the reign

George I (1714-27), silver Threepence, 1727, laureate and draped bust right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding both sides, GEORGIVS. DEI. GRA., rev. crowned mark of value, date either side of crown, .MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., weights 1.53g (Bull 1627; ESC 2018; Robinson 185; S.3655). Attractively toned, colourful underlying lustre, practically extremely fine.

The Latin legends translates as on the obverse "George, by the grace of God" continuing on the reverse as, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."

We note the total output of silver for the calendar year of 1727 only amounted to £2,049 and that only shillings and the four small silver denominations were the only coins dated this final year for this reign.
