George I 1719 Half-Guinea, first head, NGC XF40
George I (1714-27), gold Half-Guinea, 1719, first laureate head right, legend with smaller lettering and broken serif Rs surrounding, GEORGIVS. D.G. M.B.FE. ET. HIB. REX. F.D., rev. crowned cruciform shields, incorporating the Arms of Hanover, sceptres in angles, garter star at centre, date either side of top crown, large letter legend surrounding BRVN ET. L. DVX S.R.I.A.TH ET. EL., weight 4.17g (Schneider -; Bull EGC 535; MCE 267; S.3635). Toned, small patch of scratches below 9 of date, very fine, has been slabbed by NGC as XF40, a rare date.
NGC Certification 2124448-038.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "George by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith" and on the reverse as "Duke of Brunswick and Luneberg, High Treasurer and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire."
