George I (1714-27),silver Penny, 1718, Z type 1's in date, no stop after GRA, laureate and draped bust right, legend surrounds, GEORGIVS. DEI. GRA,rev.crowned mark of value, date either side of crown, legend reads MAG. BR. FR. ET. HIB. REX., weight 0.51g (Bull.1638; ESC.2324; Robinson p.157:171(i); S.3657). Toned, some contact marks, scratch on cheek, otherwise very fine.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George I by the Grace of God," and on reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."
The 1718 Penny is the only small silver coin of this date there being no maundy set available.
