George I 1718/7 Half-Guinea MS61

George I (1714-27), gold Half-Guinea, 1718, 8 struck over 7, first laureate head right, legend surrounding, GEORGIVS. D.G. M.B.FE. ET. HIB. REX. F.D. rev. crowned cruciform shields, incorporating the Arms of Hanover, sceptres in angles, garter star at centre, date either side of tope crown, BRVN ET. L. DVX S.R.I.A.TH ET. EL. (MCE 266; S.3635). Toned with a nice red colour, practically extremely fine, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as MS61.

NGC certification 2056552-133 - the only example graded as of October 2016 by NGC.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "George by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith" and on the reverse as "Duke of Brunswick and Luneberg, High Treasurer and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire."
