George I (1714-27),silver Twopence, 1717, laureate and draped bust right, legend surrounds, GEORGIVS. DEI. GRA, omitting stop after GRA,rev.crowned mark of value, date either side of crown, legend reads .MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., weight 1.00g (Bull.1630; ESC.2221; Robinson p.157:168[i]; S.3656). Toned flan slightly irregular or miscut at one part of rim, almost extremely fine.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George I by the Grace of God," and on reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."
The 1717 Fourpence, Threepence and Twopence are the only small silver coins of this date with no maundy set being available.
