France, Jean II le Bon (1350-64), gold Mouton d'Or, issue of 17 January 1355, Lamb of God standing left, his head right, banner on cruciform staff behind, IOh'REX below, all within circle ornated with trefoils, outer legend +AGn DEI QVI TOLL' PECA mVDI mISERERE nOB', pellet in annulet stops, rev. + XP'C: VInCIT: XP'C: REGNAT: XP'C: IMPERAT, double quatrefoil stops, ornate cross fleurée with rosette at centre, fleur-de-lis in quarters, all within quadrilobe with fleur-de-lis in spandrels, 4.64g (Dup. 291; Fr. 280). Fully round, toned and well struck, good very fine.
