France, Charles V (1364-80), Gold Franc a Pied, issued from 20th April 1365, armoured King with fleur de lis on breast-plate, holding sword standing facing below Gothic dais, seven fleur de lis each side, three quatrefoils each side of legs with two between, within beaded inner circle with legend either side with double pellet stops, KAROLVS: DI: GR: FRAnCORV: REX, pellet under X, rev. pellet at centre of fleured cross, crown in two opposing angles, lis in other two opposing angles, within quadrilobed, lis either side of each outer point, beaded circle and legend surrounding with mullet stops, +XPC* VINCIT* XPC* REGNAT* XPC* ImPERATo, annulet at end of legend, weight 3.79g (Duplessy 360; Bailly 38; Ciani 457; Fr.284). Toned, with some doubling in parts, good very fine.
