Elizabeth II 2019 Una and the Lion silver proof 2oz

Elizabeth II (1952 -), silver Proof Una and the Lion Two-Ounce Five-Pounds, 2019, crowned head right, J.C. below bust for designer Jody Clark, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, ELIZABETH II. D. G REG. FID. DEF. 5 POUNDS, rev. Queen Victoria in the role of Una leading the British lion left, holding orb and sceptre, thick plain ground line, legend and toothed border surrounding with thick rim, DIRIGE DEUS GRESSUS MEOS, date in Roman Numerals in exergue, MMXIX, curving below W. Wyon R.A. for original engraver and designer William Wyon, weight 62.42g. As struck, brilliant proof state, in original Royal Mint box with outer packaging, booklet and certificate of authenticity.

Official mintage: 3,000

The Latin legend translates as "Queen Elizabeth the second, Queen by the grace of God, Defender of the Faith."

The Latin legend on the reverse translates as "May God direct my steps"

This is the first time this design has been used by the Royal Mint in 180 years since the 1839 £5 piece and thought appropriate to issue now in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Queen Victoria. The design was remastered from an original die for modern striking techniques, this coin has been released under the banner of The Great Engravers Collection meaning it is the first of a possible series to follow.
