The Latin legend translates as "Queen Elizabeth the second, Queen by the grace of God, Defender of the Faith."

This is the first time this design has been used by the Royal Mint in 180 years since the 1839 £5 piece and thought appropriate to issue now in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Queen Victoria. The design was remastered from an original die for modern striking techniques, this coin has been released under the banner of The Great Engravers Collection meaning it is the first of a possible series to follow.
