Elizabeth I Three Halfpence 1578 mm Greek Cross, fifth issue
Elizabeth I (1558-1603), silver Three Halfpence, 1578, London Mint, fifth issue (1578-82), crowned bust left, rose behind, inner and outer beaded circle surrounding, initial mark Greek Cross both sides, .E. D. G. ROSA. SINE. SPINA. rev. long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, date above, CIVI TAS LON DON, weight 0.68g (N.2000; S.2574). Toned, double struck juddered reverse, weak in part of obverse legend, though with a decent portrait of the Queen, very fine.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse, "Elizabeth, by the grace of God, a rose without a thorn." and on the reverse as "City of London."
