Elizabeth I Sixpence, fifth issue 1582, mm sword, I struck over Z in Queen's name
Elizabeth I (1558-1603), silver Sixpence, fifth issue, 1582, crowned bust left, bust 5A, rose behind, beaded circles and legend surrounding, initial mark sword cross both sides, ELIZABETH D G ANG FR ET HI REGINA, letter I of Queen's name struck over Z, weight 3.17g (BCW SW-2/SW-b6; N 1997; S 2572). Toned some green patina on reverse, dig to left of shield and some light scratches to right, unusual with overstruck letter on obverse, about very fine / a bold very fine.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse, "Elizabeth, by the grace of God, Queen of England France and Ireland." and on the reverse as "I have made God my helper."
