Elizabeth I (1558-1603), silver Penny, London Mint, second issue (1560-61), crowned bust left, inner and outer beaded circle surrounding, initial mark martlet both sides, E. D. G. ROSA. SINE. SPINA, rev. long cross fourchée over quartered shield of arms, CIVI TAS LON DON, weight 0.55g (N.1988; S.2558). Toned a little uneven in shape and weak at one part of rim, with well defined mint marks, a bold very fine.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse, "Elizabeth, by the grace of God, a rose without a thorn." and on the reverse as "City of London."
