Elizabeth I silver Groat, 2nd issue mm crosslet

Elizabeth I (1558-1603), silver Groat, second issue (1560-61), crowned bust left, wire line and beaded inner circle, legend and outer beaded circle surrounding, initial mark crosslet both sides, ELIZABETH; D; G; ANG; FRA; ET HI; REGINA, rev. long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, POSVI DEV; AD IVTORE M: MEV; weight 2.09g (N.1986; S.2556). Toned, double struck mainly in legend with consequent large spread to flan, otherwise good very fine.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse, "Elizabeth, by the grace of God, Queen of England, France and Ireland." and on the reverse as "I have made God my helper" a Psalm from the Bible.
