Elizabeth I silver Crown, mm 1 (1601)

Elizabeth I (1558-1603), silver Crown, seventh coinage (1601-02), crowned ornate bust left in ruff, holding orb and sceptre, sceptre under G of legend, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding on both sides, initial mark 1 (1601), 1:ELIZABETH: D; G; ANG; FRA; ET: HIBER; REGINA:, rev. quartered shield of arms over long cross fourchée, :1: POSVI: DEVM: AD IVTORE M: MEVM:, weight 29.70g (Cooper dies B/1; N.2012; S.2582). Toned, a little weak at centre of obverse on portrait, a few light surface marks and nicks, practically very fine.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Elizabeth by the Grace of God, Queen of England France and Ireland," and on the reverse "I have made God my Helper" a Psalm from the Bible.
