Elizabeth I 1582 Sixpence mm sword

Elizabeth I (1558-1603), silver Sixpence, fifth issue (1578-82), 1582, crowned bust left, bust type 5A, rose behind head, Latin legend with linear and beaded circles surrounding both sides, initial mark sword both sides, ELIZABETH: D;G; ANG; FR; ET. HI; REGINA, rev. long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, date above, POSVI DEV; AD IVTORE M MEV; weight 3.24g (N.1997; S.2572). A little weak in parts, toned, about very fine.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Elizabeth by the Grace of God, Queen of England France and Ireland," and on the reverse "I have made God my Helper" a Psalm from the Bible.
