Elizabeth I 1574/2 Threehalfpence, mm eglantine, struck over ermine on reverse

Elizabeth I (1558-1603), silver Three-Halfpence, 1574, 4 over 2, London Mint, third and fourth issues (1561-77), small crowned bust left, bust 3G, rose behind, inner and outer beaded circle surrounding, initial mark eglantine both sides, struck over ermine on reverse, legend surrounding E: D: G: ROSA: SINE: SPINA:, weight0.76g (BCW EG-2A/EG-c; N 2000; S 2569). Some surface marks and striking weakness, about very fine, the overdate very rare.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse, "Elizabeth, by the grace of God, a rose without a thorn." and on the reverse as "City of London."
