Elizabeth I (1558-1603),silver Sixpence, third and fourth issues, 1573, crowned bust left, bust 4B, rose behind, beaded circles and legend surrounding, initial mark acorn cross both sides, ELIZABETH D G ANG FR ET HI REGINA, rev. long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, date above, beaded circles and legend surrounding, POSVI DEV: AD IVTORE M: MEV;, weight 2.98g (N 1997; S 2562).Attractively toned, a few light hairline scratches on obverse, flan a little ragged in parts, otherwise good very fine and a rare mint mark and date.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse, "Elizabeth, by the grace of God, Queen of England France and Ireland." and on the reverse as "I have made God my helper."
