Elizabeth I (1558-1603),silver Sixpence, third and fourth issues, 1568, crowned bust left, bust 4B, rose behind, beaded circles and legend surrounding, initial mark coronet both sides, ELIZABETH D G ANG FR ET HI REGINA, rev. long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, date above, beaded circles and legend surrounding, POSVI DEV: AD IVTORE M: MEV;, weight 2.59g (N.1997; S.2562).Dark tone, some digs and surface marks both sides, a little weak at upper left of shield, otherwise very fine with a clear date and mint marks.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse, "Elizabeth, by the grace of God, Queen of England France and Ireland." and on the reverse as "I have made God my helper."
