Edward VII (1901-10), gold Sovereign, 1909 S, Sydney Mint, bare head right, DES below truncation for engraver George William De Saulles, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, EDWARDVS VII D: G: BRITT: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP:, rev. St George and dragon right, S mint mark on ground-line, date in exergue, small WWP below lance for William Wellesley Pole, previous Master of the Mint when design adopted, B.P. in upper right of exergue for engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, edge milled (Bentley 725; McDonald 231; Marsh 211; S.3973). Toned with some light marks, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as MS61.
