Edward VII 1905 Halfcrown

Edward VII (1901-10), silver Halfcrown, 1905, bare head right, DES below truncation for engraver George William De Saulles, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, EDWARDVS VII D: G: BRITT: OMN: REX rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, garter motto in French surrounding, HONI. SOIT. QUI. MAL. Y. PENSE. beaded border surrounding, Latin abbreviated legend in upper half, FID: DEF: IND: IMP: denomination and date in lower half, weight 13.79g (Bull 3571 R2; ESC 750; Davies 1513; S.3980). Toned a bold fine and very rare.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Edward the Seventh by the Grace of God, King of all the Britons" and on the reverse as "Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India." With the French motto translating as "Evil to him, who evil thinks."
