Edward VII 1903 Penny, very rare open 3 in date variety, F12 BN, ex Hayward

Edward VII (1901-10), bronze Penny, 1903, open 3 variety, bare head right, DES below truncation for engraver George William De Saulles, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, EDWARDVS VII D: G: BRITT: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP: rev. Britannia seated right with shield and trident, date with more open 3 in exergue, denomination in words above (Fr.158A dies 1+B open 3 R7; Michael BP1903B; S.3990). Dark tone, good fine, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as Fine 12 BN, very rare in fine or better condition.

NGC certification 2124533-014.

The abbreviated Latin legend on the obverse translates as "Edward VII by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India."
