Edward VII (1901-10),Four piece gold matt proof Set, 1902, Coronation year, gold Five Pounds, Two Pounds, Sovereign and Half Sovereign, all with bare head facing right, DE S. below for engraver G. W. De Saulles, legend and toothed border surrounding, EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF: IND: IMP:, legend abbreviated on two smaller gold pieces, rev. St George and dragon right, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right for engraver Benedetto Pistrucci on all except Half-Sovereign (cf. S.PS9).All toned and have been slabbed and graded by NGC as PF61 Matte except the Sovereign as PF60 Matte.

These matt gold coins were produced to celebrate the Coronation of King Edward VII for the 9thAugust 1902 (having been postponed from 26thJune due to the King's appendicitis), and would have formed part of a complete set with the silver with a mintage of 8,066 sets. The silver now separated and the gold offered herewith alone.
