Edward IV Quarter-Ryal MS63

Edward IV, first reign (1461-70), gold Quarter-Ryal of Two and a Half Shillings, quartered shield of arms within linear quatrefoil, E over shield, rose to left, sun to right, trefoil below, trefoils in spandrels, beaded inner and outer circles surrounding and Latin abbreviated legend with trefoil stops, EDWARDx DIx GRAx REXx AnGL xZx FR, initial mark sun (1465-68) both sides, rev. rose at centre of sunburst over cross, lions in angles, beaded inner and outer circles surrounding and Latin abbreviated legend with trefoil stops, EXALTABITVRx Inx GLORIAx (Schneider 395-7; N.1560; S.1965). Weak in one part of legend, otherwise good very fine and rare, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as MS63.

NGC certification 2056552-019.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Edward by the Grace of God, King of England and France" and on the reverse "He shall be exalted in glory" a Psalm from the bible.
