I.B'.,rev.rose at centre on sunburst, over cross with lis terminals, crown over lion in each angle, all within beaded and linear tressure of eight arcs, fleurs in spandrels, beaded circle surrounding, stop between I and B, IhC. AVT'. TRAnSIES. PER. mEDIVm. ILLORVm.. I..BAT, weight 7.60g (cf.Schneider 362; N.1549; S.1950).Uneven flan shape, lightly creased with some residual deposit in parts from once being in the ground, otherwise a bold very fine with a good depiction of the King, unusual with reverse spelling error.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Edward by the Grace of God, King of England, Lord of Ireland"; and on the reverse "But Jesus, passing through the midst of them, went His way" taken from the Bible.

The crown initial mark on the reverse is used on coinage alone for 1466-67 and through 1467-68 often combined with mint mark sun. It continues latterly into 1469 sometimes combined with mint mark rose. Therefore it is more likely this coin dates to the early phase of this mint mark in 1466-67. The accounts for the majority of this time span have not survived to tell more about the amount of gold that was coined, but there was a massive £278,744 worth of face value coined from 1st September 1464 until 29th September 1466, a two year period of production in London. The old style dating system of the time dictates that only 6 months of this accounting period out of 24-25 months will relate to mint mark crown giving an average proportion total of some £60,000 worth of gold, but the proportion could well have been higher.
