Edward III Penny London
Edward III (1327-77), silver Penny, Fourth Coinage (1351-77), Pre-Treaty period (1351-61), London Mint, series A (1351), facing crowned bust beaded circles and legend surrounding, rounded letters with lombardic n, +EDWARDVS: REX: AnGLIE, rev. long cross pattee, tri-pellets in each inner angle with annulet at centre, beaded circles and legend around, CIVI TAS Lon Don, weight 1.03g (N.1136; S.1583). Struck a little off-centre, toned, weak in parts with hairline marks, about very fine and rare.
The Latin abbreviated legend translates as "Edward, King of the English" and on the reverse "City of London."
