Edward III (1327-77), gold Leopard D'Or, second issue of July 1356, crowned lion walking left, small crown, within tressure of ten arcs, trefoils of pellets in spandrels and on cusps, beaded circles and legend surrounding, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding with double pierced quatrefoil stops, initial mark cross pattee, EDVVARDVSxx DEIxx GRAxx AnGLIxx FRAxx REX, rev. six pellets in central compartment of floreated ornamental cross, lions over pierced quatrefoils in angles, all within cartouche, voided quatrefoils in spandrels, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding, +XPCxx VInCITxx XPCxx REGnATxx XPCxx IIxIPERAT. weight 4.23g (Elias 38A; SCH 9; AGC 43A dies 1/b; S.8038). Well struck with god detail on the leopard, good very fine, has been graded and slabbed by PCGS with weight noted on the holder as MS62, a super piece of this very rare second issue.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on obverse "Edward, King of England and France," and on reverse "Christ conquers, Christ reigns, Christ commands."
