Edward I Halfpenny London

Edward I (1272-1307), silver long cross Halfpenny, class 7, (1292-96), London Mint, facing crowned bust, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding both sides, commences at top, +EDW REX ANGL' DNS hYB, rev. long cross pattee, trio of pellets in each angle, CIVI TAS LON DON, reverse legend with one double barred N and waisted Os and composite S, weight 0.59g (Withers 5aiv; N.1048; S.1435). Toned, a couple of small rim chips, otherwise very fine.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Edward, King of the English, Lord of Ireland" and on the reverse "City of London."
