Though John Randoll does not seem to appear in the parish register there is mention of him in a detached undated page, by some deduction circa 1683 taken from the "Accompt of Burialls in Wollen Anno Domini 1699" as follows "Nov. 20 Johannes Randoll sep. An affid. made ye 22 day Novem." Therefore John Randoll had been interred wrapped in wool which had been encouraged by a 1679 Act of Parliament (30 Car. II, c.3) which was intending to lessen the importation of linen from overseas and to encourage the wool and paper manufacturers in England. Such affidavits of burial were therefore required within 8 days of burial to prove the body was wrapped in wool against a penalty of £5 if linen.
