Domitian (A.D. 81-96), Gold Aureus. Mint of Rome, A.D. 92-4. DOMITIANVS AVGVSTVS, laureate head facing right, rev. GERMANICVS COS XVI, Minerva standing right on capital of a rostral column, holding a spear and a shield, an owl stands at her feet on right, 7.56g, 6h (RIC 744; Calicó 849; BMC 208). An exceptional portrait of Domitian, a few very light marks, otherwise well-struck in high relief on a broad flan, good extremely fine and very rare, NGC CH AU 5/5 3/5.
